The 2023 Surgeon General’s Advisory on Our Epidemic of Loneliness and Isolation served to highlight the significant negative health consequences of loneliness and isolation, particularly in older adults, while identifying the need to build social connection as a national health priority. To this end, our 2024 Hayes Symposium will convene a diverse group of professionals, academics, caregivers, and policy makers to consider the growing burden and causes of loneliness for older adults. We will also consider novel approaches to advance social connection and combat loneliness in our communities, as well as the barriers and facilitators to their widespread implementation. All are welcome to attend, but registration is requested. Please share with others who might be interested—including community members and caregivers.
We are extremely grateful for the generosity of our donor, Dr. Evelyn R. Hayes, which allows us to be able to host this symposium.
Free parking will be available.
Refreshments will be provided at a reception immediately following the symposium.
